AWK BRAAK YEEP by zarla AWK BRAAK YEEP by zarla
"AWK!! BRAAK!! YEEP!! IT IS TRUE!!! THE SHOFIXTI ARE ALIVE!!!"

When you bring the Shofixti back to the Yehat, I always pictured them being like completely ecstatic and blown-away and immediately hugging them. I mean heck, if my child (children really) came back from the dead and walked through the door, I think that'd be my reaction.
I always feel all fuzzy when I bring the Shofixti back to the Yehat. Why am I so gay for this game.
They'd probably be a bit more excited than this I guess but you know whatever.
This is actually a wallpaper but apparently DA is getting all anal about wallpaper qualifications or something and I didn't want to deal with it. 800x600, resolution of champions. Did you know that the original Star Control II game was at 320x200? Isn't that neat?

Also the Shofixti are aliens not furries kthx. Read more about the Yehat here - [link] and the Shofixti here - [link]
Got the random star brushes from hybrid-genesis. Was originally a pencil sketch, then colored digitally.

The Yehat and the Shofixti (c) Star Control II, PLAY IT NOW (without voices) - [link]

Star Control 2 - can now be downloaded for _free_ in it's remake, from --> [link] <-- right there!

PLAY IT! PLAY IT AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!

... At the -very- least, your geek licence depends on it.

This has been a terran public service anouncement.

- Note to the artist - have you found out yet, that the word 'Braak' is Dutch for 'Vomit' ?

Star Control 2 is one of the few games that has ever made me cry. This is the part that did it.

Though I always imagined the size difference between these two races to be even greater.

Something's weird: The large view isn't showing up for me. (Same with a couple of your other pictures, too: like Deep_child_no_tamago and Best_of_friends.)

I think that they rather had a long ceremony of Honor's Honorable Reunion of Honorable Honorific Honor, detailed description of which takes 4 large tomes.
Nice technique by the way.

Aww man. That game was Awesome. I was playing Star Control since about 1994. And only last year did I get Star Control 2 (Urquan Masters Edition that ran on XP)

I got so thrown off by the Scottish Accents of the Yehat! They were my favourite race, and I always imagined them to be Japanese in nature.

Anywho, great game, and awesome art. It perfectly replicates that feeling I got when I reunited the Shofixti and Yehat.

I do love doing that as well. It is a rare day when I EVER kill a Yehat, even a royalist.

Nice, but there are other shofixti that also survived. Given asylem on a large tropical island, the shofixti soon populated this fragment and were given the use of small craft called 'starift'. In exchange, they swore servitute to the residents of Cerinia. Then a feutal war broke out which soon tore the planet apart. The planet was fractured into several livable floating islands, but the wars umong the residents of each island continues. (The story continues to this day)

haha. i've just finished my copy of Ur-Quan Masters for the 25th time or so... Boy, that game's a lot harder to beat without the Endless Lander Bug !

:) i'm so glad i have the original version, retail - they sold Star Control 1, 2, and The Star Control That Shouldn't Have Been - as a multipack.

Ironically, perhaps, the seal is still on the jewel case of Star Control 3.

... Though i'm currently taking apart the savegames to see how they tick. And to make the perfect starter savegame to do away with all the tedium of resource-mining. :)

Haha, in UQM and such? I think there's a savegame editor out there somewhere, but I dunno where.

I know there is a savegame editor out there. But it isn't up to my standards :) I'm fishing these savegames apart to find out how to set the date, time, location in hyper,- or quasispace, wich artefacts you have, how many crew you have bought or sold, et cetera, et cetera... :)

Maybe it was that my initial exposure to the game was through you, but I agree that whoever among the Yehat that the Captain showed his Shofixti to just would have welcomed them with open wings. And yes darn it, a big hug, and a joy too deep for words.

Heh. I listen to the SCII music at work when no one's looking.

*pats* It means more than you could ever know to me, hun. Despite the fact Toys for Bob kind of guised it in comedy, the story was quite strongly there.
