SO YEAH ENOUGH OF THAT LET'S GET SOME CHIBIS IN HERE
I inked and colored all the main chibis in one sitting, then left it open for like three days without touching it cause background D:
This is like the lamest shoddiest background in the history of the world but I don't care cause hey it's boatchibis. BOATCHIBIS. BOATCHIBIS DON'T NEED INDEPTH BACKGROUNDS.
I missed a bunch of characters but there are so many characters in Phoenix Wright there's no way I could hit them all. Because I know like NONE OF YOU have ever played this I shall explain who is who because I feel like typing hurr. SPOILERS OMG
Detective Dick Gumshoe - that lovable guy with the green trench and the dog (Missile) on a leash. Gumshoe helps you out on cases by giving you info and autopsy reports and stuff. He has a "deep and trusting" relationship with Miles Edgeworth (his words). He says "pal" after a lot of stuff. He's just your typical goofy detective. He also has very cute eyebrows. No I will not explain further. I love Gumshoe with all my heart and soul. Marry me Gumshoe.
Missile - the dog. A K-9 police dog in training! You can get him on a case to help you look for something.
Maya Fey - Standing in front of the christmas tree talking to Gumshoe. A spirit medium in training, Maya becomes Phoenix's assistant after her sister is killed. She's an upbeat silly girl but is actually useful, which puts her above most female sidekicks in games (I'm looking at you, Final Fantasy).
Mia Fey - The ghost behind Gumshoe. Maya's older sister and a very talented Defense Attorney. Was Phoenix's mentor and taught him everything he knows. Also had HUGE BREASTS. HUGE I SAY. She was a nice lady before she got whacked. I liked her.
Marvin Grossberg - The big guy next to Mia's ghost. Mia's mentor and another Defense Attorney. Was around for lots of old cases that come up in current ones (cough DL-6). Was being blackmailed by Redd White. Poofy guy, reminds me of my cat Loki who is also fat and poofy, which is why I think I'm becoming kind of fond of him.
Redd White - Dude in pink near the tree. Leader of Blue Corp, blackmailer and murderer. Has a tendency to use words wrong, such as "splendiferous" or "stupidtastical" and stuff. He also sparkles a lot. Sparkly. He reminds me of the K'Tang from Star Control 3, which I bet no one here has even HEARD OF. I'm getting fond of him for some reason too. ARGH WHY DO I LIKE ALL THESE CHARACTERS.
Will Powers - Big hairy guy looking aghast at Gant's nakedness. Plays the Steel Samurai on TV, a popular kids show, though it hides his face because he is hairy and apparently that scares kids. I'm not scared of you, Will! :< I think the best desc I saw for Will involved the kanji that spell his name, where it gave the impression of a younger brother that gets teased a lot by his siblings. Will's a softie and sweetheart.
Damon Gant - NAKED GUY. Chief of Police. Likes to clap his hands and make dramatic pauses. I PUT HIM IN THIS FOR YOU BECAUSE I KNOW HOW YOU LOVE HIM SO his hair was very strange to draw. It didn't give me as much trouble as Redd White's though. Man it's a chibi and I still couldn't get it right. Curse you, Redd White. Gant is kind of an oddball. CONSTANTLY ASKS PEOPLE IF THEY WENT SWIMMING THEREFORE
Miles Edgeworth - Sitting on the couch in red with the teacup and cravat. Phoenix's rival, the leading Prosecutor. Usually faces off with Phoenix in court. Edgeworth supposedly forges evidence and testimonies to get guilty verdicts but later on it turns out that it wasn't true. Edgeworth is cold and aloof most of the time and has serious problems showing any emotion rather than disdain for Phoenix. This of course means he's gay for him. Well no, I kid. Edgeworth did get angry and uneasy around Phoenix during a trial where he was the defendant. He's generally extremely reserved though, but he does have a strong sense of ethics and he'll help Phoenix out if he thinks that Phoenix is right. He really wanted to be a Defense Attorney but a bunch of stuff happened and he didn't become one, to sum up. This is a source of ANGST (the angry dismissive kind) for him. As a bonus, he also knew Phoenix when they were kids! He (and Larry) defended Phoenix in a class trial that no one but Phoenix remembers. Miles, Phoenix, and Larry were good friends until Miles abruptly transferred out after his dad got capped.
Manfred von Karma - Sitting next to Edgeworth in the blue and even fluffier cravat. Karma was Edgeworth's mentor, like Mia was to Phoenix, and taught him about prosecuting. Karma is a PAIN to fight in court because he yells OBJECTION all the time and has the judge wrapped around his little finger. He's an obsessive perfectionist and is HARDCORE. One of the kanji in his name connotes a demon on the prowl, if I recall right. He'll do anything to get a guilty verdict, including take a bullet to the shoulder and not take it out. Edgeworth's dad Gregory was the only one who ever got Karma penalized in court, even though Gregory lost the case. Karma was so upset by this that he went and popped a cap in Gregory. This means they were/are gay for each other, according to japanese fansites.
Gregory Edgeworth - That ghost next to von Karma. Miles Edgeworth's daddy! Pro defense attorney, best in the biz. Miles really wanted to be like his dad, which is why he ANGSTS over being a Prosecutor instead. That's pretty much all we know as Gregory dies 15 years before the game takes place.
Lana Skye - The brown-haired lady behind Gregory. Ah, case 5 is fuzzy for me now...I think Lana was the Chief Prosecutor. She and Gant also used to work on cases, and later on Gant blackmails her into doing crazy stuff. She's cold and aloof but underneath it all she's really not a bad lady. She's very refined and formal. She worked with Neil and Jake Marshall and what's her face...Angel Starr as well.
Jake Marshall - Cowboy spiking the punch. He was originally a detective working on the case against uh...Joe Darke, was that his name? Two years before the game starts, but after they got him convicted with faulty evidence he got demoted to patrolman (thanks ). He talks like a cowboy and raises cactuses. He also really likes Texas, even tho he's never been I don't think. His brother Neil was killed in the SL-6 incident which kind of messed him up in the head so he really wants revenge against this one guy. He really liked his brother. :< I like Jake and I DON'T KNOW WHY his music is awesome
Officer Mike Meekins - Next to Jake shouting. Meekins is this really uptight nervous little guy, REALLY TALL (ask !) and has a tendency to blare into that megaphone a lot. He's really really polite (he says "sir" after almost everything) and is a rather endearing little fidgety pile of nerves. His face is REALLY HARD TO DRAW USUALLY.
Larry Butz - Back to the left, bottom, below Maya and Gumshoe with the spiky light brown hair. Larry is Phoenix's best friend from school and usually a source of trouble, intended or not. He tends to date models that cost him tons of money (Kiyance among others) and is just a goof most of the time. He's over emotional and dramatic and a little off the wall and I LOVE LARRY AND I CAN'T STOP DRAWING HIM DARN IT
Phoenix Wright - Comforting Larry, spiky hair. The game's protagonist! Phoenix is a rookie Defense Attorney. He also has a huge sarcastic streak in him. He tends to be fairly optimistic and believes in his clients until the very end. He can also be really stubborn sometimes. He can be goofy too, but most of the time I've noticed he's rather sarcastic with people. He's also rather clever. Phoenix actually became a defense attorney because he wanted to meet up with Edgeworth again. No seriously. Edgeworth wouldn't return his calls after Phoenix heard of this "demon attorney Edgeworth" who faked evidence and such so Phoenix did the reasonable thing when someone won't talk to you and ENTERED LAW SCHOOL AND BECAME A LAWYER. Oh Phoenix.
His name in Japanese was Naruhodou, which translates roughly to "Ah, I see." Hee hee.
Wendy Oldbag - Old lady blathering on. Wendy's a security guard who thinks Will Powers is a Zero and Jack Hammer (who plays the villain opposing the Steel Samurai) is a hero. She rambles on and on and on REALLY FAST which of course I relate too. I like her for some horrible reason. I'm afraid I am becoming irrationally fond of old ladies and that is something I need to put a stop to. She's also a big Edgeworth fangirl.
Yanni Yogi - Sleeping guy Wendy is boring to death. Yanni is the guy that was accused of shooting Gregory Edgeworth (above) but was proven innocent, although he had to plead insanity and brain damage because they were stuck in an elevator and ran out of air long story. Anyway it ruined his career and his life and his fiance committed suicide and Yanni started faking being feeble and crazy all while plotting revenge. His parrot is named after his fiance and he tells it all his important secrets. For some reason I kind of like Yanni, but maybe that's cause I'm trying to RP as him currently and I'm sad.
Cody Hackins - Little kid in green with the cards. A Steel Samurai fanboy who is a witness in a case. Little brat. He's great.
Penny Nichols - Girl Cody is playing cards with. Assistant on the Steel Samurai set. Pretty quiet, average girl, really.
Judge - The guy in the black on the edge. The Judge, of course! He's rather clueless sometimes and easily manipulated by Prosecutors. Darn it Judge. STAND UP TO VON KARMA. He can be so dumb sometimes. He and Gant are old friends, somehow. Surprisingly, this does not mean they are gay for each other.
TADAH god I need a life. Pencil sketch, inked and colored on the computer with my tablet.
The game's amazing. I, too, am spreading the word, and will shortly be doing fanwork.
Apparently, the release of this game was to test the waters, to see whether or not something like this could sell well. To tell the truth, it was shipped in cruddy numbers, but most of the copies sold quite quickly. It's becoming harder and harder to find. It's already been discontinued [no new copies anymore], but this was Capcom's plan. Once they get their financial numbers, they'll realize that they'll have to send out the next game here. It's actually, I believe, the fourth game in a long-running GBA series, and it's wildly popular over there in Japan Land.
Just finished case 2 in that game. I recognize a good amount of these people.
I think Edgeworth is the most awesome rival ever conceived for any video game.
Woot! Thanks for explaining all of this (seeing as I will most likely will never get around to buying it and whatever system its on ). Wah! This seems like such a good game!
Love the chibis, even if Redd White creeps the hell outta me. *shudders* Waaaaaaaaaaay too much pink for anyone alive--except Relena. But she doesn't count.
Roughly, just cuz I'm curious, how far through the game are you?

I have been playing Mario&Luigi: Partners in Time all day, and Mr. Suitcase dude (why is it I can't remember his name ARGH) keeps saying that. It's doing stuff to my brain. Mr. Gant is awesome, by the way. Not the nakedness, that adds to his crazyness. and his -ness points altogether.
