Radic and Farnsworth Ukagaka/Ghost

Man these two have been in various stages of done for YEARS, but I finally sat down and decided to just finish them, haha. I'm not sure who'll care about them, but...

Anyway, here is yet another ukagaka/ghost! What is an Ukagaka/Ghost, you may be wondering? An Ukagaka (伺か)/Nanika (何か)/Ghost is basically a little program that adds some characters to your desktop. These characters are highly customizable and can be very complicated, depending on the Ghost. Each Ghost is different (they are not the same as Shimejis, if you're wondering). A FLELE (Shell-Collectors) is a type of Ghost, if you've messed with those. Radic and Farnsworth are two very old Pokemon OCs of mine, but you don't have to really know any background on either of them to enjoy them, hopefully. Any relevant info you can find out in their menus if you're actually curious!
(I name myself Radic in any game that gives me the opportunity, but only Pokemon!Radic became his own dude... this is why the fallen child is named Radic in Handplates, if you were wondering)

These two aren't super complicated (yet?), but here are a list of their basic features anyway.

• Radic and Farnsworth will say random things as they idle on your desktop, and the Pokemon they talk about and the events they reference will change depending on which region you tell them you prefer. You can also make them be silent if you don't want them bothering you.
• You can pet them by stroking various parts of them with your mouse (don't click, just move the mouse in the right area). You can't punch them, so don't be afraid to double-click in hotspots either! Double-clicking will not hurt them, haha.
• They can also do standard Ghost functions, such as...
  • Set a picture as your wallpaper
  • Empty your recycle bin
  • Tell you your computer's stats
  • Check if you have new email (if you set your POP settings in SSP correctly)
  • Update themselves remotely
  • If you drag and drop a compatible site on them, they'll add it to Headlines or RSS feeds, and you can see if there are new posts
• Radic and Farnsworth do not have a relationship system at this point, so don't be afraid of hurting their feelings or messing up with them or anything.
  
• You can ask them many things about themselves in their menus!
• They will sometimes turn into sprites. That's normal.
• They'll also announce the top of the hour.

If you already have Dr. Gaster or Hunter and Smoker, then installing these two should be a snap! Basically...

1. Download the z_bluepearl.zip, which is the balloon they will be using. You want to do this first so they'll use the right balloon when they first appear. If you're having trouble with the original balloon's fonts, you can use z_bluepearl-nofont instead, which is the same balloon but without fonts specified.
   
2. Drag and drop the z_bluepearl.zip onto your current ghost's face (Gaster, Hunter and Smoker, whoever). It should look like they're installing something, and they'll probably tell you the balloon's name when you're done. If you right-click the ghost and go to the Balloon tab, you should hopefully see the Pokemon BluePearl balloon listed.
3. Download the radic_farns.nar file. This is the actual Ghost.
4. Drag and drop the radic_farns.nar file onto your current ghost. They should again look like they're installing something. They'll probably say their name when they're done.
5. Right-click the ghost and go to the "Change Ghost" tab. You should now see Radic and Farnsworth listed! Switch over to them and you should be ready to go. If they're not using their balloon, you can use the Balloon tab to switch them to it (if it's installed).

If you don't already have SSP or a Ghost installed, there are more in-depth directions on their page. Ghosts will work on Windows and Macs, possibly Linux but I'm not positive. More details are on the page.

Note! - Their balloon uses the Pokemon GB and Pokemon Dppt fonts, and it'll look really strange without them. I included the font files in the balloon zip, so you can install the fonts from the ssp/balloon/z_bluepearl folder if you don't already have them.

Quick User's Guide

Radic and Farnsworth's desktop tray icon is a little Pokeball. If you can't find the bell icon, look for the Pokeball icon instead.

Double click Radic or Farnsworth's body to open their personal menu. These menus have unique options so you can ask them questions or change your name and such.

Right click Radic's body to open the general SSP menu. You can use this to change Ghosts or Balloons.

To check for updates, select it from Farnsworth's menu, right-click Radic and click Update from the SSP menu, or hit Ctrl-U when they're the focus. They should check for any new stuff and download it automatically.

If you want them to stay on top of your windows, right click them, then go to Options - Preferences, then the Ghost(2) tab in the big menu that pops up. Check "Always Show Foreground" and that should do it.

If you want to make them bigger or smaller, right click them and go to shell scaling, then choose the percentage you like.

If they don't seem to be retaining values (like if you changed your name or region for example), you can try deleting the aya5_variable.cfg file and letting them make a new one by reloading them. You can find this file in the folder where you installed SSP - something like, \Downloads\SSP\ghost\radic_farns\ghost\master depending on where you put SSP, of course. If the aya5_variable file has been write-protected you might also run into this problem, or if it's in Dropbox. Try moving SSP somewhere else and see if that helps. It's a very lightweight program.

If you want to uninstall SSP, just delete the SSP folder. If you just want to uninstall Radic and Farnsworth, delete the radic_farns folder inside the SSP\ghost folder. You can also turn on the Uninstall option in Radic's config menu, then select Uninstall from the right click menu.

Sometimes the Pokemon match-ups they talk about might get a little strange...
